The challenger

Azure is Microsoft’s hyperscaler. Launched in 2008, Azure has now moved beyond the realm of Office 365-only and covers over 70 regions with more than 400 data centers and >190 POPs in 109 metropolitan areas, including the Azure Content Delivery Network China. Microsoft uses 275K+ miles of optical fiber and submarine cable systems to achieve high data transfer speeds with low latency.

Microsoft has recognized compliance and sustainability as important issues and has taken measures to address them. For example, new data centers are being built in accordance with LEED Gold certification standards, and Microsoft operates a data center region in Sweden that is already powered by 100% renewable energy. The roadmap to 2030 sets out further ambitious sustainability goals, such as preserving landscapes, reducing waste, and protecting water resources.

E-commerce has its own specific challenges, which can be mitigated by using Azure.

Promotions

If a shop has special requirements for fast, intensive scalability, for example, if it regularly runs large promotions, then Azure is a quick way to absorb peak loads and ensure content delivery.

Serverless

If customers want to focus on software development and want the infrastructure to adapt to this, then “serverless” is an interesting approach. Automatic scaling, automatic capacity management, and flexible resource management – Azure offers exciting possibilities.

Internationalization

If cross-regional strategies are to be pursued and international markets served, customers in the cloud can achieve short response and delivery times for their applications by using content delivery networks or globally replicating and region-specific services.

Full service at kick‑off and in operations

Azure offers extensive possibilities for e-commerce platforms, but also pitfalls that not only make operation unnecessarily expensive, but in the worst case can also impede it. This is where Metaways comes in as an experienced partner and service provider. We advise you right from the start of the platform concept, take care of the setup, package the application in handy Kubernetes clusters, and ensure operation with our 24/7 AWS management. Our customers always remain flexible and independent.
Our customers are contractual partners of Microsoft Azure and are therefore free to decide at any time whether they still need Metaways’ support or would prefer to go it alone. Until then, they benefit from our experience in the technical handling of large e-commerce platforms and can explore opportunities for success with our backing.

Custom-tailored PaaS

Our Platform-as-a-Service in the Microsoft Cloud scores with full flexibility thanks to Kubernetes-powered clusters, allowing you to make optimal use of computing resources, easily deploy applications, and benefit from rapid scaling.
